Continuing my explorations in the very basics of working with glass, I made a small stained glass piece of the Indian god Ganesha. Now Ganesha is a great god - he's cute, chubby, loves sweets, and has the head of an elephant! There's a whole story about him, but this is neither the time nor the place for that. Mainly he is the deity that is presented with an offering before most ceremonies.
The point is that I made this simple piece as my first stained glass work. It came out nice overall, but the vast majority of the joints are all off. And as you can see, there is a great variety in the thickness of the area between pieces that I had to fill in with solder.
Speaking of which, I discovered that soldering glass is QUITE different than soldering integrated circuits. All the instincts I had for finesse and position turned out to be totally useless - oh well!
And for the next glass project? a basic planet with a bunch of rings around it. Or perhaps a UFO landing.
