Well, I got sick of having to lift up my iPod each time I wanted to change the song, so I made a little stand for it out of Legos. Yes, it is pretty low budget, but it gets the job done! I'm not one to pay for an expensive stand, even if it is beautiful (and unlike some people, I don't have access to a laser cutter anymore).
The prototype design is fairly simple, but includes some nice features:
- attachable rubber feet prevent sliding on smooth surfaces
- circular white dials along bottom spin, just like the dial on the iPod
- rubberized wheel backing eases entry and exit from the enclosure, in addition to preventing damage to the rear of the iPod
- foldable kickstand allows for easy transport
- 2 mini-neutrino plasmonic ion-flux cannons provide protection from people that lack musical taste
The next plan is to motorize it, and perhaps add a down-firing pulsating blue led (to match the speakers, of course).
